মনোমোহিনী ডুয়ার্স। পর্যটন মানচিত্রে ডুয়ার্স স্বকীয় মহিমায় সমুজ্জল । ভ্রমণপিপাসু ,প্রকৃতিপ্রেমিক বিদেশী পর্যটকরা ও মোহিত হচ্ছেন ডুয়ার্সের হাতছানিতে । আসলে প্রকৃতি এখানে উদার অকৃপণ হাতে সাজিয়ে তুলেছে ডুয়ার্সকে । ডুয়ার্স মানেই জঙ্গল,অসংখ্য চা বাগান ,ঝোরা,খোলা নদীনালায় পরিপূর্ণ । প্রতিটি চা বাগান যেন সৌন্দর্যের স্বর্ণখনি । পাহাড় বলতে ভুটান । ভুটানের গা বেয়ে শিরা উপশিরার মতো নেমে এসেছে রমণীয় পথ । নৈঃশব্দ্যের সুর মুর্ছনায় মনে পড়ে যায় কত গান,কবিতা,সংগীত ,ল্যান্ডসকেপেআঁকা অনামী শিল্পীর দুধর্ষ ছবি । ডুয়ার্সের শান্ত সবুজ বনভূমি । বিহঙ্গ কলকাকলিতে সতত পরিপূর্ণ । ক্লান্ত শ্রান্ত পথিকের পরম বিশ্রামকুঞ্জ । এই বসন্তে সবুজ অরণ্য,ঝরাপাতার গান ,নব কিশলয়ের শোভা । কৃষ্ণচূড়া,রাধাচূড়া ,বনজুঁই ,অমলতাস,রুদ্রাপলাশ ,শালফুলের মনোমোহাক সুরভী ,এমনকি ভাঁটফুল সত্যিদেয়া অদ্ভুত রোমাঞ্চ জাগিয়ে তোলে । উত্তর বঙ্গে জীবন্ত ছবির যদি অ্যালবাম দেখতে আগ্রহী হন তো বেরিয়ে পড়ুন ডুয়ার্সের পথে প্রান্তরে –
ককপিট থেকে ঘোষণায় জানতে পারলাম যে আমাদের বিমান এখন তিরিশ হাজার ফুট উচ্ছতায় ,আমাদের নিচে হিমালয়ের বিপুল বিস্তার। যতদুর চোখ যায় চূড়ার পর চূড়া ।ইতিমধ্যে সূর্যোদয় শুরু হয়েছে । শুরু হলো শুভ্র হিমবাহ ও গিরিখাতের ওপর রঙের খেলা । মুগ্ধ হয়ে দেখছি আর কাছের জানালা দিয়ে ছবি তোলার চেষ্টা করছি । কিছুক্ষনের মধ্যে তুষারধবল হিমালয় শেষ হয়ে তিব্বতীয় মালভূমির ধূসর পাহাড় দেখা গেলো । তার মধ্যে নীল শিরা উপশিরার মতো নদীনালা বয়ে গেছে । প্রবল ঝাঁকুনি দিয়ে খোচা পাহাড়ের ফাঁক দিয়ে আমাদের বিমান লেহ -র এয়ারপোর্টে ল্যান্ড করলো ।এয়ারহোস্টেস ঘোষণা করলেন বাইরের তাপমাত্রা ১০ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস –

Rishop also pronounced as Rishyap is a magnificent Lepcha hamlet nestled in the Kalimpong Hills. At an elevation of 8100 feet above sea level, the village is quite adjacent to Lava and just about 28 km distance away from the heart of Kalimpong town. The mysterious quiet forest of Pine, Birch, Fir, and Orchids with soothing paths following the chirps of birds and the splendid view of the majestic Kanchenjunga has captivated the minds of many travelers visiting Rishop to spend a great holiday amidst the lap of Mother Nature.
Apart from the great panorama of Kanchenjunga, a visitor can also see the Sikkim, Bhutan, and Nepal mountains including Jelep la from Rishyap. Nathula, the famous Into-Chinese border that has been opened up for trade, is also visible from here. From the year 1998, Rishop successfully emerged as one of the finest tourist destinations in the region which was just an inaccessible hamlet with very few households before. According to the local myths and ancient legends, the Ri in the name Rishop stands for mountain peak whereas shop means age-old trees in Tibetan.

রাস্তার পাশে দূরে সার দিয়ে দাঁড়ানো পপলার গাছ,,পাতাহীন ডাল সর্বস্ব অবয়ব। রাস্তার পাশে শীত পোশাকের পসরা সাজানো দোকানি ,পালং শাক গাজর বিক্রেতা মহিলা ,আলু পিঁয়াজের বড়া ভাজা বৃদ্ধা। ডাল লেকে ভাসমান শিকারা ——-জলে দাঁড়ানো নিঝুম হাউস বোট । বাঁকে বাঁকে পীরপাঞ্জলের রূপ ঐশ্বর্য । কোথাও আবার প্রৌঢ়ের সাদা ভেড়ার পাল নিয়ে চলেযাওয়া । মেষপালকের গায়ে ফেরান ,শীতে কাশ্মীরের অমোঘ বস্ত্র । দুই হাতের আগলে বাঁধা ঝুলন্ত কাঠকয়লা আর ছোট্ট ঝুড়ি —যার পোশাকি নাম কাংরি । কোথাও আবার সর্ষে ক্ষেতের হলুদ আঁচলে হারিয়ে যাওয়ার অমোঘ হাতছানি আবার কোথাও সুন্দরী তন্বী লিডারের বাকরহিত করা সৌন্দর্য । বুঝতেই পারছেন কার কথা বলছি ———
